Twelve time National Award winner Jahnu Borua was born in Bokota Village in Xhiboxhaagor (Sibosaagor) district of Assam. He is one among the most internationally acclaimed movie directors from India and well known for his work in Assamese and Hindi movies. Jahnu did his B. Sc. from B. Borooah College, Guahati University, Guwahati, Assam. Later Jahnu Borua did his Diploma in Film Direction from prestigious “Film and Television Institute of India” (FTII), Pune, India.
Jahnu Borua’s directional debut movie was “Aparoopa” (Oporoopa) ( Eng. Title: Expectation ) in 1982. As a producer Jahnu Borua has been producing movies under his four production companies Jahnu Barua Productions, Patkai Pictures and Dolphin Communications, Patkai Films.
Apart form direction, he is the writer and editor of most of his movies.
