The story is based on true incidents, the suffering and pain faced by the villagers during the peak years of insurgency in Assam in 1990’s.

Story: – Following several restless years an aged woman named Hermoni, mother of Mukti who had left home to join a revolutionary group is handed a mutilated bullet ridden body supposedly that of her son. The ceremonial final rites are performed. Later, Hermoni gets an information from the outfit group that Miukti’s death cannot truly be confirmed. Thus begins another long wait as Hermoni regenerating her expectation that one day her son will come back home.
Sewali, Mukti’s childhood friend with whom he had wanted to share his life is now a grown woman. She is still waiting for Mukti’s return. Her love for Muki is unwavering.
Biplob, another member of the outfit group had come back from the group to lead a regular living but his past stops his comeback to mainstream.
These three lives go on living nourishing an unseen angle of their feelings that one day their hopes and dreams will certainly come true.
Haanduk begged many awards across the globe including Rajat Kamal for Best Moran Film (64th National Film Awards, 2017).
