On 5th June 2017, “Jyoti Chitraban Digital Archive” and “Jyoti Chitraban Hall of Fame” was inaugurated by “Jyoti Chitraban Film society’s chairman Mr. Pobitro Margherita. This is the largest Government run archive system in north east India.
Jyoti Chitraban Digital Archive, a new branch of Jyoti Chitraban( Film Studio) Society, a society under the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam and Celebstan (a startup founded under CIIE, IIM Ahmadabad).
A new website www.jcda.in was also launched on the same occasion. “Jyoti Chitrobon Digital Archive” is launched with the objective of providing long-term access to the information related to Assamese movie industry. This digital archive system will preserve old Assamese movies, short films, songs, documentaries & dramas etc.
The hall of fame is inaugurated with an intention to honor all the prominent and famous personalities of Assamese Movie Industry to mark their fame in the field. Each year the nominating committee will select a group of artists nominated in the field of culture. Ballots will be sent to expert, members of the movie and music industry and artists including every living Jyoti Chitrobon Hall of Fame inductee and the five performers receiving most votes will become that year’s induction class.
As of now the Hall of Fame inductees are- Dr. Bhupen Hazorika, Jyoti prosad Agorwala, Parboti Prosad Borua, Lokhmiram Borua, Kolaguru Bishnu Prosad Rabha.
